This is a very beautiful and unusual embossed majolica tile with a unique seashells design, made by Minton Hollins & Co around 1890.
It was impossible to find another example of this tile.
It is in good condition for its age, with chips around the edges, surface marks and a corner trimmed for the original fitting.
It measures 6" x 6" square and 1.3cm in thickness.
The tile comes from the Roger Hensman Tile Collection, and has the number C.93. If you want to know more about this tile you can contact TACS (Tiles and Architectural Ceramics Society), give them the reference number, and they can offer more information about it.
