Description

Antique Fireplace Tile Floral Majolica Blue Glaze by William Godwin C1870

This is a very beautiful majolica tile with a unique floral design in blue glaze, made by William Godwin around 1870.
The tile has a few tiny chips around the edge, surface marks, and a corner trimmed for the original fitting.

It was impossible for me to find another example like this one.

It measures 6" x 6" square and 1.3cm in thickness.

The tile comes from the Roger Hensman Tile Collection, and has the number C.187. If you want to know more about this tile you can contact TACS (Tiles and Architectural Ceramics Society), give them the reference number, and they can offer more information about it.
