Description
Antique Fireplace Tile Majolica Floral Design Gibbons Hinton & Co C1900
This is a beautiful embossed majolica tile with a floral design made by Gibbons Hinton & Co around 1900.
It is in good condition for its age, with chips around the edges, crazing in the glaze and surface marks.
It was impossible for me to find another example like this one.
It measures 6" x 6" square.
This tile has a reference number D.822 on the back.
It comes from the Roger Hensman Tile Collection.
If you want to know more about it, you can contact TACS (Tiles and Architectural Ceramics Society), give them the reference number, and they can offer more information about the provenance and maker, together with the date Roger Hensman purchased the tile.
The tile has also been part of Chris Blanchett's study collection.
