Description

Antique Fireplace Tile Majolica Pomegranate Design by Maw & Co C1900

This is a very beautiful and rare embossed majolica tile with a unique pomegranate design.
It was made by Maw & Co for Sutcliffe in the Broughton factory around 1900.
The tile is in very good condition for its age, with small chips around the edges and surface marks.

It was impossible to find another example like this.

It measures 6" x 6" square and 1.1cm in thickness.

The tile comes from the Roger Hensman Tile Collection, and has the number C.98. If you want to know more about this tile you can contact TACS (Tiles and Architectural Ceramics Society), give them the reference number, and they can offer more information about it.
