Antique Imari Porcelain Fireplace Tile Fischer Mieg Pirkenhammer C1900
An unusual porcelain fireplace tile produced by Fischer & Mieg at the Pirkenhammer factory in Bohemia, now Březová in the Czech Republic. It features a densely arranged Imari-style design with a central floral medallion, stylised flowers, scrolling foliage and circular motifs. The cobalt blue and iron-red decoration is finished with extensive gilded outlines and details.
The Pirkenhammer porcelain factory was established in 1803 and became one of Bohemia's recognised porcelain manufacturers. The Fischer & Mieg name was introduced during the 19th century, when the factory was noted for its hard-paste porcelain, detailed painted decoration and extensive gilding. The tile is in good condition for its age, with small chips and wear around the edges, surface marks, scratches, and areas where the gilding has rubbed off. Please check the pictures thoroughly as they form part of the description.
