Description

Arts & Crafts Transfer-Printed Three Wysemen Tile E. Smith & Co Coalville 1883

This is a stunning transfer-printed tile depicting three men on a bowl in the sea.
It seems to be one of a kind, as I can't find another one
At Jackefield Museum, you can see a drawing of this tile, but there is no tile.
The tile has the text "Three Wysemen Of Old Went To Sea In A Bowl, If Ye Bowl Had Been Stronger My Song Had Been Longer."
The design is inspired by the Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes, 1833.

It was made by E. Smith & Co, Coalville, and registered with a diamond code on 10/10/1883.

It is in good condition for its age with some tiny chips around the edges, stains and surface marks.

It measures 8" x 8" square.
