This section features our current stock of antique fireplace tiles produced by Maw & Co, dating from the mid to late 19th and early 20th century. The firm was established in Shropshire in 1850 and developed into one of the largest tile manufacturers in Britain during the Victorian period.

Maw & Co produced tiles under its main name throughout its history and became known for large-scale production of decorative and architectural ceramics. The company specialised in encaustic, transfer-printed, and moulded tiles, supplying both domestic interiors and major public and ecclesiastical buildings.

Examples include a wide range of designs from geometric and classical patterns to floral and stylised motifs, often intended for fireplace panels, wall decoration, and architectural schemes. Due to the scale of production, Maw tiles are found in a variety of settings, though well-preserved examples and matching designs can still be increasingly difficult to source.
