Minton's 'Industrial' Fireplace Tile by John Moyr Smith's Painter in Brown 1870

This is a beautiful and rare block-printed tile depicting a painter, made by John Moyr Smith for Mintons China Works around 1870.

It is in good condition for its age, with discolouration,crazing in the glaze and surface marks.
This tile is part of a set of 12 block-printed tiles designed by J Moyr Smith illustrating trades and occupations.

This tile in particular is entitled "Painter" in brown colouring.

It measures 6" x 6" square.
