Reclaimed Victorian 8" Persian Style Tile Maw & Co C1870
This is a stunning Victorian hand-painted tile featuring an exceptional Persian-style design, with colours ranging from various shades of blue, and was made by Maw & Co.
These tiles were removed from an old fireplace in situ at the former Averard Hotel, built in 1856, 10-11 Lancaster Gate, London. W2.
The tile has all four of its corners trimmed for the original fitting, crazing in the glaze, stains and surface marks.
It measures 8" x 8" (20cm x 20cm) square.
The pictures at the end are for you to look at; this listing is only for this tile.
We have a multitude of these tiles listed separately. Please check our listings.
These types of tiles, besides their value as rare collectable items, are also viable to be used for architecture, like restoration of an old fireplace, placed as a replacement for a tile from the wall, or just framed and hung on a wall for decoration.
