This is an extremely rare and exceptional transfer-printed and tinted tile depicting a boy and a girl.
This tile is part of the "Old English" series, which has as its theme Months Of The Year; this example is entitled "December".
This series was designed by Helen J A Miles for Josiah Wedgwood around 1878.

It is in good condition for its age, with tiny chips around the edges, some imperfection from manufacturing in the corners, and surface marks.
