Description

Antique 9ct Gold Combination Propelling Pencil & Dip Pen with Seal Terminal

  • Material: XRF Tested 9ct Gold
  • Maker: Unmarked
  • Period: Victorian / Early 20th Century
  • Measurements: approx. 11.3cm long closed and 13.7cm fully extended
  • Total Weight: 16 grams

An antique combination propelling pencil and dip pen crafted in 9ct gold and decorated with extensive foliate chasing across the body. The piece features a sliding outer sleeve which reveals the internal pencil mechanism, while the lower section unscrews to expose a dip pen nib. The terminal is fitted with a carved seal top set with a bloodstone-style panel engraved with a monogram. The decoration is consistent throughout with crisp detailing and good depth to the chasing. The piece is unmarked, with a small "M" stamp noted to the internal section, and has been XRF tested as 9ct gold. It is in good condition for its age, with visible signs of age and use. The nib shows age-related wear and darkening. No lead is present and a replacement lead will be required for the pencil function. The chasing remains well defined and the piece presents well overall.
