An Edwardian solid silver-mounted glass desk set, comprising an inkwell, twin-compartment stamp box, and integrated pen rest, made by John Grinsell & Sons and hallmarked for Birmingham, 1905.

This Edwardian desk piece combines several functions in a compact and well-designed form. The main body is constructed from clear cut glass, mounted with solid silver fittings.
The circular-lidded inkwell sits to the rear, while the front section features a hinged silver-mounted stamp box divided into two compartments, with a glazed lid allowing contents to be viewed. A pen rest is integrated into the front edge, completing the practical layout.
The silver mounts are hallmarked for John Grinsell & Sons, a Birmingham maker, with a date letter for 1905. The design reflects the period’s preference for combining utility with restrained decorative detail.
Condition
Excellent condition for its age.
General light wear consistent with use. Two very small nibbles to corners of the glass base. No major damage observed. Would benefit from cleaning but presented in original, as-found condition.
