Antique Sampson Mordan & Co 9ct Gold Gravity Pencil London 1938
A 9ct gold gravity pencil by Sampson Mordan & Co, hallmarked in London for 1938. The pencil has a hexagonal barrel with engine-turned decoration and extends telescopically to reveal the writing tip. The nozzle is marked "M" for medium lead size. The mechanism operates by pressing the top button while holding the pencil down to extend the lead sleeve. To retract, the button is pressed while holding the pencil upright, allowing gravity to return the tip. It is in good condition for its age, with visible signs of age and use including light surface wear. The mechanism extends and retracts as intended.
