Scarce Georgian Treen Nutmeg Grater Barrel Shaped

This is a lovely pocket nutmeg grater shaped like a barrel from the early 19th century.It unscrews in the middle to reveal the grater, which itself unscrews to store nutmegs.It has good colour and patina, with a tiny crack on one side.It is a great antique nutmeg grater.
This one measures 7cm in height x 2.5cm in diameter at the top.
Nutmeg graters were a real status symbol. These pocket ones were carried around and used to grate nutmeg into mulled wine or sprinkle it on top of toasted muffins.
