Mid-19th-century sterling silver christening mug of baluster form, raised on a shaped circular foot. The body is decorated with engraved foliate and scrollwork panels, incorporating a shaped vacant cartouche. The mug has a scroll handle and retains its gilt-washed interior. The engraving is well defined and typical of the period, with a balanced decorative layout throughout. It is in good overall condition for its age, with visible dents and knocks to the foot rim, general surface wear, light scratches and minor tarnishing consistent with use. The engraving remains clear and the handle is secure.
