Antique 1896 "The EDGAR" Mechanical Nutmeg Grater-Wood Handles

Antique mechanical nutmeg grater called "The Edgar". Made of tin with a wood handle and knob.
The spring mechanism still works, as does the slide action of the grater.
The metal parts have the typical vintage patina.
This primitive kitchen tool was made by The Edgar Manufacturing Co. of Reading, Massachusetts and has two patent dates.
The original patent date was August 18, 1891, and a second patent was granted on November 10, 1896.

It measures about 14.5cm H x 13.3cm W x 3.7cm D.

Total Weight: 78.84 grams

It is in good condition for its age, with visible signs of age and usage.
It will need a good cleaning.
