Antique Rolled Gold Fetter and Knot Fob Watch Chain Thomas Hopwood C1900
This antique circa 1910 double Albert chain was crafted by ’T & H’ - Thomas Hopwood of 25-27 Branston Street Birmingham, who established their business in 1852 and continued until around 1925.
Renowned for their rolled gold, gold-filled and gold-cased chains and jewellery, these quality-crafted chains were made to last.
Thomas Hopwood (born 1862) Thomas Hopwood senior (born 1828 and also a jeweller) and Frank Sebastian carried on a business partnership at Branston Street, Birmingham (see photos).
Crafted in the popular style, which I believe to be the Fetter and Knot link chain with an original stamped T-bar and separate drop chain, which holds a beautiful fob, two dog clips also stamped, and two Fetter links also stamped with T+H’s.
The chain measures 37cm long from dog clip to the dog clip.
Total Weight: 40.2 grams
It is in good condition for its age, with visible signs of age and usage.
It will need a good cleaning.
