Antique Sterling Silver Mother Of Pearl Baby Rattle Sydney & Co Birmingham 1906

An Edwardian sterling silver baby rattle with a mother of pearl handle and matching suspension ring, made by Sydney & Co. A traditional early 20th-century example of English silver babyware.

The rattle features a decorative sterling silver body with applied and chased detailing, fitted with a tapered mother of pearl handle. The suspension ring at the top is also formed from mother of pearl, allowing the piece to be attached to a ribbon or chain. Hallmarks are clearly struck to the silver mount.

Condition

Good overall condition.
Light surface wear consistent with age and handling. The mother of pearl elements show minor natural variations typical of the material. No major damage noted.
