Antique Sterling Silver Wax Seal Stamp Sampson Mordan & Co 1908
An early 20th century sterling silver desk wax seal stamp by Sampson Mordan & Co, hallmarked Chester 1908, with engraved motto matrix.

The stamp is of traditional desk form with shaped silver handle and integral seal matrix. The body is of solid construction with smooth polished finish typical of early 20th century examples.
The seal matrix is engraved with the word “Repullulat” (engraved in reverse, as intended for sealing), meaning “it springs up again” or “it grows again”. The motto is clearly cut and remains legible.
Hallmarks are clearly struck and include the lion passant, Chester town mark, date letter “H” for 1908, and the maker’s mark for Sampson Mordan & Co.
Sampson Mordan & Co were well known for producing high-quality silver desk accessories and writing instruments in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Condition
Good antique condition.
Clear hallmarks. General surface wear and light scratches consistent with age and use. Minor softening to edges. No visible splits or structural repairs observed.
Matrix shows expected signs of prior use.
