German Sterling Silver Lady's Combination Sovereign Minaudiere Compendium Case
This is a fine and large German Art Deco sterling silver lady's combination minaudiere/sovereign/compendium case, rectangular in form with engine-turned decoration, a relief floral border, opening to reveal a gilded interior with further powder compartments, graduated sovereign coin holders, and an original integral silver cable-link carry chain.
It should have an inside mirror and a pencil, but these are missing.
It may have been gilded on the outside before.
There are four enamelled initials, possibly from the previous owner.
This compendium case is extremely scarce, as I can't identify another one.
It will complement any collector.
Maker's name is: Bemberg Fritz, 1900-1940.
It measures about 13.2cm W x 6.2cm H x 1.7cm in thickness.
Total Weight: It weighs an enormous 289 grams.
It is in good condition for its age, with visible signs of age and usage (with dents and scratches).
It will need a good cleaning.
