Rare Slab Sterling Silver Vesta Case Match Holder Case Lindsay & Paisley 1925
A rare sterling silver vesta case of slab form, fitted with a pull-out sliding drawer rather than the more commonly encountered hinged lid. The plain exterior is complemented by an engraved presentation inscription within the drawer reading: "With Compliments, James McLean, 12 Woodside Terrace, Glasgow. C.3. Telephones, Douglas 2420. Telegrams, 'Spotless, Glasgow.'" The inscription provides a direct link to a Glasgow business of the period and adds historical interest to the piece. Sliding drawer vesta cases are considerably less common than standard hinged examples, making this an unusual form for collectors of British silver and smoking accessories.
