Vintage Japanese Hagiyake Hagi Ware Tea Set in Original Box
This is a Japanese Hagiyake Hagi Ware tea set composed of two cups and a teapot.
They come in the original box as well as with some papers.
Among the many tea wares in Japan, Hagi ware has long been praised by tea lovers for its beauty, elegant design, freedom from the world and a kind of refinement, as exemplified by the saying "first Hagi, second Raku, third Karatsu." It was first created by potters who came from Korea during the reign of Mori Terumoto, approximately 370 years go.
They are in very good condition for their age with no visible cracks or chips present.
One cup is larger than the other; one measures approximately 6.5cm H x 6.7cm in diameter, and the second measures 6cm H x 6.7cm in diameter.
The teapot measures approximately 9.2cm H with lid and 8.5cm without lid, 11.5cm W x 8.5cm in diameter.
