WEDGWOOD TRANSFER TILE FRONT DE BOEUF EXTORTING SILVER FROM ISAAC THE JEW

Description

A very rare Wedgwood transfer printed picture tile is to be found.
The tile is printed, in dark blue, with subjects taken from the novel Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott,
from a very rare series designed by Thomas Allen.
The tile is marked to the reverse, in the moulding of the tile, 'JOSIAH WEDGWOOD & SONS ETRURIA', and dates from c.1880.
There are some tiny chips to the rims, as often happens with tiles, but generally, the condition is very good.
Measures 8" square.
