Antique Fireplace Art Nouveau Tile H & R Johnson 1904

This superb art nouveau tile is up for sale made by H & R J and is stamped with registered numbers 443656 and PATT 12309 on the back.

Johnson Tiles was established in 1901 and was a market leader with a house design team. Based in Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent, England.

These particular tiles are called 'one colour' as the glaze is a single colour. This gave a spectacular depth of colour and dates from the Edwardian period 1904 when glazes progressed to bring a highly translucent glaze in a range of colours.

Tile measuring 15.3cm x 15.3cm square and 1 cm deep.
