Description
1930s Parker Super Wunup Dunhill Cigarette Case Made from Red-Brown Bakelite
This case still has the ‘wun-up’ dispenser in place and is a beautiful colour!
External Approximate Size: (I believe that the Case was initially designed to fit 70mm or 2 3/4″ cigarettes, which are smaller than most modern cigarettes)
Width: 9.2cm
Height: 8.5cm
Depth: 1.2cm
The marketing tagline for these types of dispenser was ” Just slide the top and up they pop.”
This case has a ribbed top striker which slides along a metal channel. As the top is pushed along, cigarettes pop up on individual springs mounted in the base of the case. ‘Wunup’ cigarette cases were available from 1932-1960.
In pretty good condition, the sliding top shows slight age-related wear, and there are a few minor surface scratches and blemishes on the case.
Made by Parker, Beacon House, 141 Notting Hill Gate, London, W11, dating to about the 1930s.
A great tobacciana or Bakelite collector’s item.
