Antique Sterling Silver Large Footed Bowl Sheffield By Harrods Stores Ltd 1911

The African Art-Makonde chess set was handmade in the 1930s. It is a unique creation made by the Makonde tribe from southwest Tanzania and Mozambique. The Makonde tribe is known for their excellent wood carving skills and distinctive art style. Although the chess sets were created for European export, the pieces do not follow any established chess pattern. Instead, they are based on traditional Makonde designs.
All the pieces are in very good condition and all original.

The king measures about 8.5cm and about 2.5cm across the base.
