Antique Brass Inkwell Eagle Holding Globe With Pen Rest

A circular copper and brass inkwell holder with original liner beneath a hinged lid.
A brass eagle with outstretched wings supports the inkwell on a circular, chamfered onyx base.
To the front is a brass pen rest.
Condition: wear to the hinge, but the latter is secure nibbles to the top of the inkwell.
The eagle is secured with screws and also glued on the onyx.
The onyx base is in good order but with some minor nibbles on the circumference – wear commensurate with the age of the item.

The plate measures approx 17 cm in diameter, and the inkwell approx. 11cm H x 14cm W. and 7cm in diameter.
It weighs a total of 1647 grams.
