ANTIQUE Octagonal Tunbridge Ware Go To Bed, Match, Seal & Wax Holder
Lovely Tunbridge ware rosewood "Go-to-Bed" vesta case.
This is more a match or taper & sealing wax holder. There is a striker on the bottom.
This is larger than most I've had, standing 3" tall, including the bone holder.
Lovely geometric patterns adorn all eight sides and the top.
The central body is divided into two sections; I believe it was three, but it missed a divider.
The bottom bit unscrews and there is the place where the seal was kept.
It dates from the mid-19th century.
The condition is excellent in every way, with no damage or repairs.
Missing the finial on the lid.
This is a highly hard-to-find item which is in fantastic condition.
A lovely piece to be added to your collection.
