Sterling Silver Needle Case Pencil Holder Birmingham in 1896
A rare & beautiful antique solid silver needle case or pencil holder hallmarked for Birmingham in 1896.
The front side prominently displays a piece of artwork.
It features a bird in the upper portion and a human face, Greenman, in the lower portion.
The back is fully hallmarked, and the maker's mark is a bit faded, but I believe it is for Levi & Salaman.
The needle case shows signs of wear consistent with age and usage.
Maker: possible Levi & Salaman
Hallmarks: Birmingham mark, the letter "w"-1896
It measures about 59mm x 8mm.
