Antique French Solid Silver Letter Opener
This solid silver novelty letter opener is shaped like a sword.
We love fine sterling silver, and this gorgeous antique letter opener is no exception.
This piece remains in excellent condition and exhibits some of the finest ornamentations we’ve seen on a piece of its kind.
The light patina that has covered it over these many years has provided an incredible sense of texture and dimension.
The blade is made of steel and has some pitting on it.
There is a stamped hallmark for silver on the handle and on the sheath, and I believe they are French hallmarks.
Though there are a few light surface scratches and a light patina, this letter opener remains in spectacular antique condition.
It will make a unique and elegant gift or addition to your collection.
Hallmarks: Possibly French, but not sure about the standard as the mark is not visible.
It measures about 17.5cm.
It weights a total of 18 grams.
