Description

Antique Sterling Silver Table Snuff Box Frederick Marson 1864

This antique English table snuff box is made of solid silver and was created by silversmith Frederick Marson in Birmingham in the Victorian era of 1864.

The box features a classic Victorian design with hand-engraved leaves on both the lid and base and a bold and large size.

The cover cartouche is unmarked.

Adjacent to the lid is a slim thumb piece that makes it easy to open the box.
However, the interior gilding has faded due to its age.

The craftsmanship and prestigious build quality are evident when holding the box with its reassuring weight and precise geometric dimensions. The lid hinge and closure work flawlessly with a smooth closing action and precise lid closure.

Maker: Frederick Marson

Hallmarks: Birmingham mark, letter "P"-1864

I am measuring about 1.8cm x 8cm x 5cm.

Total Weight: 120 grams
